I’ve been following Shakeira’s case, and something that’s really been on my mind is the role the community can play in supporting her family right now. It’s just so incredibly tough to see someone so loved and cherished within her community have their life cut short in such a tragic way. Denmark is a close-knit town, and Shakeira’s family needs all the support they can get as they navigate this painful time. Have any local initiatives been started in her memory, like a vigil or fundraising campaign, to support her family or promote community safety? Sometimes coming together like that can bring a bit of comfort and show her family that Shakeira’s life and spirit continue to make an impact. It's a small step, but maybe one place to start in looking out for each other and ensuring this doesn’t happen again.
