It's hard to wrap my mind around how everyone in Lancaster must be feeling right now. The loss of Veronica McIlwain has hit so many people hard, and what stands out to me is the community's reaction to the suspect's age. How do we process a crime where the alleged perpetrator is just 14? The ripple effects are immense, and I imagine there's a lot of support needed for both Veronica's loved ones and the suspect's family. I keep thinking about the living room where she was found and how that space, once perhaps filled with laughter, is now tied to something so tragic. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly and unexpectedly life can change. Let’s all remember to hold our loved ones just a little bit closer and keep Veronica's family in our thoughts. This kind of pain and loss is unimaginable, and the community will need time to heal.
