I came across this case today and wanted to discuss something that’s been weighing heavily on my mind. While justice was served with Antwon Brown’s sentencing, what really stands out to me is the initial silence from bystanders. I understand fear can play a large role in such situations, but it's truly upsetting to think that uncooperative witnesses could have delayed justice for Rayjon Smith's family. I'm wondering if there might be a deeper issue at play here. Are there programs in place in Columbia to help protect witnesses or encourage them to come forward safely? Ensuring witnesses feel safe and supported to share critical information seems crucial in preventing other families from enduring the same prolonged agony that Rayjon’s family did. Sending thoughts to Rayjon's loved ones during what must be a still challenging time.
