Has anyone else been following the developments around school security discussions following the Tanglewood Middle School tragedy? It's weighing heavy on my mind how a place that's supposed to be safe for children turned into something so scary that day. I can't even begin to imagine how Jamari's family and friends are coping with their loss.
The school community must be going through such a hard time coming back to those same halls. I hope the dialogues happening now can bring about meaningful changes so that parents can feel a bit more secure sending their kids to school. More so, I hope students feel safe returning to their classrooms without fear.
If anyone here attends or knows families from Tanglewood, has there been any progress on security improvements or new measures? I think it’s vital that the community supports these initiatives so that something positive can arise from such a devastating event.
Hey everyone,
I've been following the discussion about the tragic event at Tanglewood Middle School, and there's an aspect that's been on my mind - the impact on Jamari's classmates and friends. Imagine being so young, facing something so terrifying and unexpected. It’s an unimaginable trauma. It's vital the school and community provide ongoing support and counseling for these kids. Those who've lost a friend or witnessed the incident might struggle with anxiety and fear returning to school, a place they should feel safe. I hope more awareness is raised about ensuring mental health resources are available for these students long-term. It’s one small way we can honor Jamari's memory by looking after those who miss him most deeply, his friends and fellow students. My heart goes out to all of them and, of course, to Jamari's family.
Let’s keep talking about how we can push for change in our schools to avoid such tragedies in the future. Stay safe, everyone.

Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the community's response since the tragic loss of Jamari Cortez Bonaparte Jackson. The way neighbors, teachers, and parents came together at Tanglewood Middle School following such a devastating event is truly moving. It’s an incredible testament to the strength and unity of Greenville. Seeing more than 100 officers responding and families coming together at the church to be reunited with their children was really something.
I’ve been attending some of the community meetings, and it's heartening to witness the serious discussions on how we can all help prevent this kind of tragedy from happening again. People are really determined to ensure Jamari's death wasn't in vain by making positive changes for school safety and mental health support.
As frustrating and painful as the situation is, it’s reassuring to know we’re all part of a community that supports not only the victims but is taking steps towards a safer future for our kids.
Sending love to Jamari’s family and everyone affected. ?
Take care,
