I’ve been thinking about the impact on the Crestview Middle School students who were in the park during this horrific event back in 2014. It must have been terrifying for the authorities to make such quick decisions to keep those kids safe and unaware of the tragedy unfolding nearby. I'm grateful they were shielded from the trauma, but I can't help but wonder how their trip was affected, even without them knowing the specifics of what happened that day. It’s chilling to think they were so close to something so tragic without even realizing it. I hope those measures prevented any traumatic memories, and I’m glad counseling was made available for everyone impacted by the aftermath. My heart goes out to the Potter family and the community who had to navigate such a difficult time.
