I've been following the tragic deaths of Spence Jackson and Tom Schweich for a while now, and one aspect that really stands out to me is the intense pressure these individuals seemed to face in their political roles. It makes you wonder about the level of stress and scrutiny involved in their jobs and how it can affect one's mental health. Having both a prominent boss and a media director take their own lives in such a short period is extremely alarming. It also raises questions about the environment within political offices and the lack of mental health support for those involved. I truly hope this encourages more open discussions about mental health, not just in politics, but across all high-pressure careers. My thoughts go out to their families and colleagues who are undoubtedly still grappling with these devastating losses.
