I recently came across Jamyla Bolden's story, and it truly touched me. As a parent myself, I can't even begin to imagine the pain Jamyla's family must be enduring. What's really been on my mind is how this tragedy affected the kids in her neighborhood and at her school. It's not just adults impacted by such violence; the younger ones are left to grapple with a world that suddenly doesn't feel as safe.
It's somewhat comforting to know that the community has come together to remember her with a playground at Koch Elementary. It's a small beacon of hope and healing for the kids who go there. It seems like a place where they can remember Jamyla for the joyful spirit she was, instead of just the victim of a senseless crime.
Has anyone else in the Ferguson area noticed any other community efforts or gatherings since this tragic event? It'd be heartwarming to see how else people are coming together in Jamyla's honor.
