I've been thinking a lot about Eric Summerfield's case and wanted to touch on something that’s been on my mind: the impact on Forsyth High School students who knew him. It must be incredibly difficult for those who saw him almost every day to reconcile his sudden absence. As a recent graduate with plans for his future, Eric was likely a familiar face in the halls, maybe someone looked up to by younger students or a friend to others in his class. I can only imagine how his close friends and peers are navigating this loss. The school community is bound to feel shaken, especially given the timing of this tragedy, not long after graduation. It’s important for schools to have resources available, like counseling services, to support students through this kind of trauma. If anyone knows about any memorials or gatherings the students might be organizing, please share. It’d be wonderful to see the community coming together to celebrate Eric’s life and support each other during this very difficult time.
