I've been following the case of David L. Brooks, and I can't help but think about the ripple effects it has had on the whole community in Canton, Missouri. It's really something when a person like David, who dedicated so much of his life to helping others as a firefighter and EMT, is taken in such a tragic way. The trial brought a lot of attention to the details, but what I keep wondering about is the emotional strain during and after the trial for David's family and those who knew him. Imagine being a part of that small community where he was a coach and a local businessman, and the loss they must still be feeling. A verdict like Cody's—while not guilty—doesn't magically heal the wound or bring closure. It leaves room for a lot of unanswered questions, doesn't it? Does anyone have any insight into how the community or his family is coping now, years later? For those who were close to him, I'm sure his legacy must live on in some way.
