Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the role that surveillance footage can play in solving cases like Deon's. It's truly unsettling to imagine how a moment captured on video — such as that muzzle flash around 5:00 a.m. — can become a crucial piece of evidence. I can only imagine how Deon's family feels, knowing such cold, hard facts about what happened. It seems like every detail just amplifies the tragedy. I find myself wondering about those weeks between the incident and Estes confessing to his friends. What might have gone through Estes's mind during that time? And how difficult must it have been for those friends to come forward after hearing such a confession? I hope that all these pieces of evidence are gathered and handled with care so that justice for Deon is served in the end. My heart goes out to his loved ones who are navigating this loss alongside the ongoing legal battle.
