I just came across the case of Kirby Dominguez-Amaya, and it's deeply unsettling how this young man's life was cut so short in such a senseless act of violence. My heart goes out to his family and the young 17-year-old who was also gravely injured. I can't even imagine the pain they're going through, not just from losing a loved one but also from the uncertainty of an unsolved case.
Something that really stands out to me is the location. Cherokee and Louisiana in the Benton Park West neighborhood is supposed to be a bustling area. It makes you wonder how something like this could happen without anyone seeing or hearing anything. Surely, someone must have some information, no matter how small? St. Louis has been grappling with increasing violence, and it's cases like this that underscore just how urgent it is for the community to come together and help the police. If anyone out there knows something, please consider coming forward—it could bring much-needed peace to Kirby's family and maybe help prevent more senseless acts. Let's hope this case doesn't become just another statistic.

I am his sister . That 17 year old who is now 22 years old is the one that murdered him and my brother shot back defending himself before dying all alone in his car while the “injured” one got taken to the hospital by his accomplice. My brother had just left from being with his friends at IHop and was in his car before they came up to him shooting at him. Police will do nothing and he won’t get charged because it’s his word against someone who is no longer here.

That is horrible. It just feels so empty saying so sorry for your loss. I really have no words for the grief and pain you feel.

I've been thinking a lot about the role of community initiatives in cases like Kirby Dominguez-Amaya's, and I really hope they can make a difference. It's so frustrating to see these crimes go unsolved when you know there have to be people out there with information that could help. Programs like KSDK's "CUT SHORT" seem to be a crucial step in keeping these cases in the public eye and reminding people that these victims are more than just names. They have family and friends who miss them every single day. It makes me wonder how we can all do more to support these initiatives on a local level. Maybe if we each took a small step, be it spreading the word or attending community meetings, we could inch closer to finding the answers these families desperately need. Anyone have experience with this, or other ideas on how we can help push these cases forward?
