I’ve been following the McKenzie case and can’t help but think about Etta’s legacy as a powerhouse businesswoman, especially in a community that needs role models like her. It’s evident she was more than just successful in her ventures; she was an inspiration to many, particularly aspiring Black female entrepreneurs in the area. Her ability to juggle multiple businesses while still dedicating time to civic duties is something you don't see every day. It’s incredibly upsetting to know that someone from the family was accused of this violent act. Family bonds should be sacred, but this truly shows that you never really know what's happening behind closed doors. I hope that with time, the community finds the peace and strength to heal from this significant loss and continues to honor Etta by supporting local initiatives that empower young business owners. My thoughts go out to everyone who knew her and Kenneth. They were clearly cherished and will be missed terribly.

Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the role family ties play in cases like the tragic murder of Etta and Kenneth McKenzie. It's hard to wrap my head around the idea that someone so closely related could be involved in such a horrific act. It really makes you wonder about the dynamics within a family and how things could go so wrong. Etta seemed like such a pillar in her community, someone who not only succeeded in business but also gave back in so many meaningful ways. To know that this violence came from a family member is especially devastating for those who knew them. Family is supposed to be a source of love and support, not fear and violence. I hope there are discussions or programs that can start addressing these issues at the community level. Maybe it's about better mental health support or conflict resolution resources before things escalate to a point of no return. It’s just incredibly sad to think that all this potential for good was lost in such a senseless manner. Thoughts and insights are welcome. - Jamie
