I was thinking about the search conditions around Larch Mountain during the time Joshua Applestill went missing. With the snowfall reported soon after he disappeared, it's no wonder the searches might have been hindered. Does anyone know if they attempted to use thermal imaging during those early search efforts? I’ve heard that such tech can sometimes work even with snow cover, but the forest density there might pose a problem. Also, what about access to that snow gate area? I’ve driven by there in past winters, and the roads can be tricky, even when not completely snowed in. I'm curious if the search teams had the right vehicles for those icy conditions back then. Maybe someone local could shed light on any community efforts or off-the-grid trails that might not be on standard maps. Even a small overlooked path could be vital! If anyone has insights or thoughts on this, please share.
