I've been following the case of Jakobe Bass, and I'm deeply affected by what his family is going through, especially his mother, Samica Sandelbach. Losing a child in such a violent way is unimaginable, but to have it happen twice is a pain that no parent should endure. I can't help but think about how vital it is for communities to rally around families like theirs, offering support and pushing for change. Does anyone know if there are community events or initiatives being organized to both honor Jakobe's memory and address gun violence prevention in Saint Louis? I feel like there's so much more we can do collectively to prevent this kind of tragedy from happening again. My heart truly goes out to everyone who knew and loved Jakobe.
Does anyone else feel like the sentences given in Jakobe Bass's case just don’t add up? I understand that Aeshon Loggins got 20 years, but what really sticks with me is the person who only got four years. How does such a serious crime result in just a four-year sentence? It's upsetting thinking about Jakobe's family, especially his mother, Samica, who has had to endure such unimaginable loss. I get that there are complexities and factors like plea deals involved, but when compared to the nature of what happened to Jakobe, it just feels inadequate and unjust. I hope this doesn’t set a precedent for future cases where the punishment doesn’t fit the crime.
Also, the involvement of a juvenile who might not face charges at all is worrying. It makes me question how our justice system handles young offenders, especially in such grave situations. I truly hope some positive legislative changes stem from this tragedy, not only to honor Jakobe's memory but to prevent similar tragedies in the future. If there are any advocacy groups or current legislative efforts in the area, I'd love to hear about them.
Hey everyone, I just can’t stop thinking about the poor family of Jakobe Bass, especially his mom. Losing two sons to gun violence in such a short span? I can't even begin to imagine the pain. It’s good that law enforcement acted quickly and some people are behind bars, but her feeling that the sentences are too lenient really makes me wonder about justice in cases like these. We always hear about how justice should be served, but how can it be when the pain for the family never truly goes away?
Did anyone hear about what Samica Sandelbach is doing now? I read she’s advocating for changes in gun laws. I truly admire her strength. It just seems like small sentences in such a severe case only add to the heartache. Hoping for more awareness and real change. ? What do you all think can be done to support people like her in effecting real change?
