Does anyone else feel that the justice system sometimes doesn't adequately address the nuances of fear and self-defense? I was reading about the Jarrod Young case in Blue Springs, MO, and it's just so unsettling. On one hand, we have Bailey claiming he shot Jarrod out of fear, yet there's no weapon on Jarrod to validate that fear. It makes me wonder how we navigate these cases—can "feeling scared" really justify taking someone's life when there's no immediate threat? Jarrod's family must be going through so much, trying to find some sense in all this. I can't stop thinking about how this could happen between friends and what it means for those who have to deal with the aftermath. Would love to hear others' thoughts on how self-defense claims are handled legally and emotionally.
