I recently came across the case of Officer Lane Burns while browsing the forum, and there's an aspect of it that's been weighing on my mind. It's about the courage and resolve shown by Cpl. Garrett Worley during such a harrowing ordeal. Despite the chaos and being seriously injured, Worley's actions likely saved other lives that day. It’s a bitter reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face on a daily basis. Their bravery often goes unnoticed until something tragic like this happens. The situation at the Motel 6 could have been even more devastating if not for the swift response by these officers. Seeing the community rally with blue balloons and support, especially with the BackStoppers stepping in, shows how deeply these occurrences affect small towns like Bonne Terre. It makes me think about the countless officers who continue to put themselves in harm's way. My heart truly goes out to Burns' family and fiancée, Shannon, as well as to Cpl. Worley for his recovery and resilience. Stay safe, everyone, and don’t take the sacrifices of these individuals for granted.
