On a late spring evening, Michael Dewayne Rodgers was with four friends on a boat in the Ohio River. The group was enjoying the water near the shores of Hardin County, Illinois, and Crittenden County, Kentucky, when their boat overturned. The other four individuals in the boat were rescued from the river, but Rodgers, a 30-year-old man from Rosiclare, Illinois, could not be located. The incident triggered an immediate and extensive search effort involving multiple agencies.
