On July 10, 2019, 44-year-old Arthur Eben Hill, Jr. was reported missing from Anderson, Alaska. That morning, at approximately 11:00 a.m., he had been dropped off near the Nenana River to go camping. When his campsite was checked on later the same day, it was discovered that his twin-sized air mattress and swim trunks were gone. Authorities believe he may have decided to float down the river. Arthur, who also went by the nicknames Art Hill, Smiley Hill, and others, was not equipped with a life vest, and it was known that he could not swim. Arthur is a white male with blond or strawberry blond hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was six feet tall and weighed approximately 168 pounds. He has several distinguishing features, including multiple tattoos and various scars. His tattoos include religious imagery on his upper right and left arms, as well as on his left forearm, names tattooed on his chest, and additional tattoos on his left leg and shoulder. He has scars on his left forearm, left ankle, and left leg. When he was last seen, it is believed he was wearing swim shorts. Despite search efforts, no sign of Arthur has been found since he vanished into the Alaskan wilderness. The Alaska State Troopers are the investigating agency in his case. The prevailing theory is that he may have had a mishap in the water while floating down the Nenana River on his air mattress. Without the ability to swim or a life preserver, the situation would have been perilous. The case of Arthur Hill, Jr. remains a somber mystery, a story of a camping trip that ended in a presumed tragedy, leaving his loved ones without answers.
