Justin Walker, a 33-year-old firefighter from Fairfax, Virginia, was last seen on August 17, 2019, after he embarked on a fishing trip with his friend Brian McCluney. The two men set out from Port Canaveral, Florida, on a 24-foot boat but never returned. Family members reported them missing when they failed to check in later that day.
Search efforts, led by the U.S. Coast Guard and supported by various local and federal agencies, covered an extensive area, reaching from central Florida to the coast of New England. Despite the deployment of helicopters, boats, and planes, the only clue recovered was McCluney's gear bag, which was found 50 miles off the coast of St. Augustine. Sadly, after several days of searching approximately 150,000 square miles, the Coast Guard suspended its efforts, though the families of both men continued their search independently.
Walker, a beloved community figure and a professional dancer, was known for his passion for dancing and his involvement in youth activities and community groups. The search for him and McCluney sparked widespread support, with numerous organizations and volunteers offering resources and donations to aid the effort.
