On July 1, 1986, a 24-year-old man named Brian Douglas Bayer disappeared in the desert area near Scottsdale, Arizona. He and his twin brother, John, had become lost in the remote and challenging terrain. At some point during their ordeal, the two brothers became separated. John was eventually able to find his way to a residence and contacted the authorities to report his brother missing.
