On July 1, 1986, 24-year-old Brian Douglas Bayer was reported missing in the desert area near Scottsdale, Arizona. The events leading to his disappearance began when he and his brother, John Bayer, became lost in the challenging terrain of the desert. The two brothers eventually became separated from one another. John was able to find his way to a residence and immediately contacted the authorities to report that his brother, Brian, was missing.
