On April 21, 1987, 18-year-old Anton Kochergin, Jr. of St. Paul, Alaska, was reported missing after the fishing vessel he was on, the F/V Jamie Lynn, sank in the Bering Sea. The 93-foot crab fishing vessel had sustained prior damage while in St. Paul Harbor and was being towed by the processor vessel Long Harbor to Dutch Harbor for repairs. The sinking occurred approximately 90 miles north of Dutch Harbor in Wells Bay.
