In the summer of 1989, a 38-year-old man named William Edward Jackson, also known as Bill or Billy, was in Ketchikan, Alaska. On June 22nd of that year, he was on an anchored fishing vessel near Cape Fox Island. It is believed that he somehow fell overboard from the vessel. At the time of his disappearance, he was presumed to have drowned. The last known photograph of him was taken just a month prior, in May of 1989. William was a White male with red or auburn hair and brown eyes. He was approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed around 170 pounds. He had a few distinguishing marks, including a one-inch scar in the middle of his forehead and another scar on his left finger. Notably, his fingers had been recently stitched at the time he went missing. It is thought that he was wearing a jogging suit, possibly in blue, gray, or black, a t-shirt of an unknown color, and glasses. The Alaska State Troopers in Anchorage are the primary investigating agency for William's case. The official report of his disappearance was created years later on March 17, 2020. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain centered on the presumption of an accidental drowning. With no further evidence or recovery, the case remains a painful mystery for those who knew him, a story of a man lost to the Alaskan waters.
