On September 7th, Mr. Yun, a male of Asian descent, was enjoying a day of sport fishing with a companion in a skiff on the Aleutian Chain. At approximately 5 feet 4 inches and 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, he was unprepared for the sudden event that would soon unfold. He had a distinct physical feature, an artificial left eye. For the outing, he was dressed in a dark blue short-sleeve V-neck t-shirt with buttons at the top, brown or blue jeans, and dark-colored hip boots that went up to his thighs. He may have also been wearing a watch. The calm of their fishing excursion was abruptly shattered when the skiff veered sharply to one side, violently ejecting both Mr. Yun and his companion into the frigid bay. While his companion was successfully rescued from the water, tragically, Su Chong Yun could not be located. A critical factor in this devastating outcome was that he was not wearing a floatation device at the time of the incident. The suddenness of the accident left no time to react, and the lack of a life preserver made the situation perilous. The search efforts that followed were unable to find any trace of him in the vast and unforgiving waters. The disappearance of Su Chong Yun is a heartbreaking reminder of the inherent dangers of the sea and the vital importance of water safety precautions. His case is officially documented, and the Alaska State Troopers in Anchorage are the primary investigating agency. The official report was filed the day after the incident, on September 8, 1993.
