In the quiet town of El Reno, Oklahoma, a distressing event unfolded that led to the disappearance of a young child. On February 17, 2016, 8-year-old Mabel Lopez vanished under harrowing circumstances. Her disappearance was not a simple case of a child wandering off; it was linked to a violent crime that left two men critically injured. An Amber Alert was quickly issued for Mabel, as authorities believed she was in grave and immediate danger. At the time she went missing, Mabel was described as a Hispanic female, standing approximately 3 feet tall and weighing around 40 pounds. The circumstances surrounding Mabel's disappearance are deeply troubling. Police believe she is with her father, Arcenio De Jesus, who was named as a suspect in a machete attack that occurred at a home in El Reno the night Mabel was last seen. It is also believed that Mabel's mother, Miria Lopez-Rodriguez, was with them, not as a participant, but as an additional victim. Following the assault, authorities suspected De Jesus fled with both his daughter and her mother. A warrant was issued for his arrest on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The family was thought to be traveling in a dark gray or black 2005 Ford Explorer with an Oklahoma license plate, possibly heading towards Mexico. The investigation into Mabel's whereabouts was launched immediately, with the El Reno Police Department leading the effort and coordinating with state and federal officials. Despite the issuance of an Amber Alert and the widespread sharing of information about the suspect and the vehicle, years have passed without a resolution. The case, registered under NamUs case number MP75957, remains a painful open wound for those who knew the young girl and the community at large. The trail that began with a violent outburst in a small Oklahoma town seemingly went cold, leaving behind a lingering sense of uncertainty and profound concern for the safety and well-being of young Mabel Lopez and her mother.
