Andelka Morariu, a 62-year-old woman from St. Petersburg, Florida, was last seen on February 28, 2020. She was reported missing on March 2, 2020, when she failed to show up for work. At the time of her disappearance, she was living with her ex-husband, George Morariu, despite their divorce in 2018. The couple's relationship was tumultuous, with neighbors frequently reporting loud arguments.
Surveillance footage from a neighbor's camera showed Andelka entering their shared home on the day of her disappearance but never leaving. Hours later, George was captured on camera removing a large object from the house, wrapped in a blanket or tarp, and placing it in the trunk of Andelka’s car. Authorities later searched the home and found biological evidence linking the scene to Andelka, although her body has never been recovered.
In April 2020, George Morariu was arrested and charged with second-degree murder based on this evidence and the medical examiner's conclusion that Andelka was a victim of homicide by unspecified means. George remains in custody awaiting trial for his ex-wife’s presumed death.
