Larry Don Carter Jr., 53, was last seen on July 31, 2020, in Lodi, California. He was driving a white 1998 Dodge conversion van along Highway 12, west of Interstate 5, after leaving his mother’s home. Following his disappearance, his dog was found wandering in the same area. When a friend returned the dog to Carter's family, they were surprised to hear Larry had not yet returned home. The following day, his van was discovered abandoned and burned along North Guard Road, close to a homeless encampment where Carter often visited friends.
Larry had experienced homelessness for several years before winning the lottery, which allowed him to purchase a motor home and begin living with his mother. However, he maintained close ties to the homeless community, often helping with transportation and financial support. In the days leading up to his disappearance, Carter had a disagreement with a couple from the same area, who allegedly threatened him. This couple disappeared shortly after Carter went missing, and one of them was later found with some of his personal belongings.
Since his disappearance, Larry Carter has not accessed any of his financial accounts or used his phone, raising concerns among his family. They do not believe he would have left without contact, and they fear he may have met with foul play. His case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to investigate any leads related to his disappearance.
