Edward Leon Brunt III, age 41, was last seen on September 12, 2020, in Port Richey, Florida. He had departed from the American Marina on his 31-foot boat to go scuba diving near Anclote Key State Park, approximately seven miles off the coast. Brunt, an experienced and certified diver, was with friends during the trip. However, after entering the water, he failed to resurface. His companions alerted authorities at around 1:00 p.m. when they realized he was missing.
An extensive search effort was conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard, which spanned 43 hours and covered an area of roughly 1,685 square miles—equivalent to the size of Rhode Island. Despite these efforts, no trace of Brunt was found, and he is presumed to have drowned. His case remains open, and authorities are still seeking any information that might help resolve his disappearance.
