Janet Callies, a 40-year-old mother of three, disappeared on the night of November 15, 1978, from Grand Island, Nebraska. She was last seen at a local bar called the Sundowner, located near Interstate 80. That evening, Janet called her daughter around 7:30 p.m. to arrange dinner plans. She was supposed to pick her daughter up from her apartment at 8:30 p.m. but never arrived. Janet has not been seen or heard from since.
