James Solak II, a 59-year-old man, was last seen on April 8, 2024, near Baltimore, Maryland, while on a long-distance bicycle trip. Solak had been biking from Pennsylvania to Florida with plans to stop in Surf City, North Carolina. On the day of his disappearance, he contacted his ex-wife, stating that he had lost his backpack containing essential items like his ID, money, and maps. His message also contained concerning remarks about his mental state, mentioning self-harm attempts.
