Kimberly Kay Bell, a 51-year-old woman, was last seen in the Denver metro area of Colorado in late July 2019. At the time, she had been living with her sister in Franktown and was employed as a driver for a limousine company. Concerns for her welfare grew after she abruptly stopped showing up for her job around July 22, 2019. Her sister, troubled by her sudden disappearance and the fact that Kimberly had reportedly fallen in with a bad crowd, officially reported her missing in August of 2019. Kimberly was described as a white female with brown hair, brown eyes, and two large, distinctive moles on her neck. The initial investigation into her disappearance yielded very little evidence or information, leaving her family with unanswered questions about her whereabouts.

The circumstances of Kimberly's disappearance took a dark turn as the investigation unfolded over the subsequent years. In 2021, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office's cold case team took over the investigation. Through what was described as a long and arduous process, which included numerous witness interviews and sending investigators to other states, authorities began to piece together the events of July 22, 2019. It was discovered that Kimberly had been with two acquaintances, Javier 'Alex' Martell and Jennifer Lynn Bremer, in her rented black Ford Focus on the day she was last seen. According to witness statements, the three were at the Lincoln Street light rail station's parking garage when Martell reportedly became enraged with Kimberly.

In October 2024, a significant development occurred in the case with the arrests of Martell and Bremer. Martell was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, while Bremer faced charges of being an accessory to a crime and identity theft. Authorities believe that inside the parking garage, Martell attacked and strangled Kimberly. Bremer was then allegedly instructed to drive. The pair are accused of driving to a Home Depot to purchase an axe and other items before heading to a remote location near Estes Park. It is there that Martell is alleged to have dismembered Kimberly's body and disposed of her remains in a dumpster at a nearby veterinary clinic. Despite these arrests and the detailed allegations, Kimberly Bell's remains have not been recovered. The case, which began as a missing person report, is now being pursued as a homicide, with Martell and Bremer awaiting trial.
