Weeks went by without contact from Jorden, which was not entirely out of character due to her sometimes transient lifestyle. However, after more than two weeks, her sister grew concerned and contacted Jorden's stepmother, Mary Tucker. It was discovered that Jorden had not been reported missing, and on November 8, 2020, nearly a month after she was last seen, Tucker filed a missing person report. This significant delay hampered the initial investigation. Authorities quickly identified the man who picked Jorden up as her ex-boyfriend, Tyler Wilkins, with whom she had a turbulent and allegedly abusive relationship. When questioned, Wilkins admitted to picking her up but claimed that after they got into an argument at his home, Jorden left on foot, and he did not know where she went. In November 2022, Tyler Wilkins was arrested for the kidnapping and murder of his then-girlfriend, 22-year-old Clarrissa Winchester, and the death of their newborn son, Grayson. Wilkins was found guilty of beating Clarrissa to death and was sentenced to 45 years in prison. This development cast a sinister light on his potential involvement in Jorden's case, making him the prime suspect. Finally, in April 2025, while serving his sentence, Wilkins confessed to killing Jorden Nebling. He admitted to stabbing her to death with a pocketknife on the day she disappeared in October 2020. Although he has been charged with her murder, Jorden's remains have not yet been located.
