In the community of Aiea, Hawaii, a heart-wrenching story unfolded involving a young child named Kytana Ancog. On January 31, 2021, Kytana, just 18 months old, was dropped off by her mother at the residence of her father, Travis Rodrigues. This would be the last time she was reportedly seen alive. Concerns for the toddler's welfare grew, and a missing person's report was officially filed on February 10, 2021, after Kytana's mother was unable to get in contact with either her
daughter or Rodrigues. The initial search and investigation into the disappearance of the little girl soon pointed towards a deeply troubling and tragic outcome.
The investigation into Kytana's disappearance quickly focused on her father, Travis Rodrigues. According to court documents and witness statements, a disturbing picture of the child's final days began to emerge. One witness reported seeing Rodrigues, who appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine, physically abusing Kytana. The witness described seeing him slap, shake, and kick the child, leaving her bruised and bleeding. The following day, the same witness saw Kytana appearing lifeless. In subsequent interviews with law enforcement, Rodrigues allegedly admitted to squeezing his daughter against his chest until she lost consciousness and appeared to have died.
Following his confession to investigators, Rodrigues detailed how he handled the situation after his daughter's death. He stated that he wrapped Kytana's body in a bedsheet and placed her inside a duffel bag. He then sought help from a friend, Scott Michael Carter, who allegedly agreed to 'take care of' the remains. Rodrigues was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with his daughter's death. Carter was also arrested and charged with first-degree hindering prosecution. In September 2022, the charges against Carter were dismissed, though they could be refiled in the future. Despite extensive searches and the alleged confession from her father, Kytana Ancog's body has never been found.
