During his training in Tennessee, Kevin Raney had reportedly become romantically involved with an exotic dancer. On the evening of December 19th, he drove his white 1982 Ford Escort to the West Side Trailer Park where the woman lived. Upon his arrival, he was met not by the woman, but by her boyfriend, who invited him inside the trailer. Kevin Raney was never seen or heard from again after entering the residence. The circumstances of what transpired inside the trailer remain unknown, but this encounter is the focal point of his disappearance. Foul play is strongly suspected in his case, although he is officially listed as a deserter from the Marines.
A few days following his disappearance, Raney’s Ford Escort was discovered abandoned in the parking lot of a Walmart, located behind the trailer park where he was last seen. Inside the vehicle, investigators found bloodstains. While DNA testing was not available in 1988, the blood was determined to be Raney's type.
