Grant Wilbur of Louisville, Kentucky, was a 54-year-old Black man who stood between 5'7" and 5'9" and weighed between 135 and 140 pounds. He had black hair and brown eyes. His family lost contact with him in 2016 when he stopped answering his phone, leading them to become concerned for his safety.
In May 2016, the body of an unidentified man was discovered in the Ohio River in Daviess County, Kentucky.
The remains were found near those of a woman who was identified as Sarah Lindsey Ipock. The man's body showed he had been shot in the head, and there were also indications of an attempted strangulation. Due to the condition of the remains, identification was not immediately possible.
After years of investigation, the unidentified man was positively identified as Wilbur Allen Grant in November 2023, with assistance from Othram, a company specializing in advanced DNA testing.
