Jose Gomez Cordova, a 44-year-old man from Irving, Texas, went missing on January 3, 2021. He was last seen while driving from Irving to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, where he planned to visit family. He disappeared along a notoriously dangerous route known as the Monterrey-Nuevo Laredo Highway, commonly referred to as "La Carretera de la Muerte" (The Highway of Death) due to the high number of kidnappings and violent incidents reported in the area.
