In the autumn of 2021, a 52-year-old woman named Jenifer Ann Driver, who also went by the spiritual name "Mountain Sun," vanished from the area of Crestone, Colorado. Although she had initially been reported missing from the Boulder area, her last known whereabouts were in the North Crestone Campground on or around October 8, 2021. At the time, it was thought that Jenifer, an avid nature lover, may have set out for a hike towards North Crestone Lake, possibly equipped with a backpack,
a sleeping bag, and a blue tent. Described as being 5 feet 4 inches tall and around 170 pounds, with gray shaved hair, brown eyes, and a preference for baggy, comfortable clothing, her disappearance prompted an immediate response from local authorities.
The Saguache County Sheriff's Office launched an extensive search of the rugged terrain where she was last seen. Search and rescue teams on foot and in helicopters scoured the area, but found no trace of Jenifer or any of her belongings. As the investigation deepened, it was revealed that Jenifer had been associating with a woman connected to the "Love Has Won" spiritual group. The two had been camping together at the North Crestone Campground and were instructed by a local official to move their campsites after exceeding the permitted stay. Authorities eventually located this woman in Pennsylvania; she told investigators that she and Jenifer had parted ways after being told to leave the campground and that she had not had any contact with her since.
As weeks turned into months, the investigation took a heart-wrenching turn. After speaking with Jenifer's friends and associates, the Saguache County Sheriff's Office learned that she had expressed intentions of ending her life. A message she had written on social media to a friend further illuminated her state of mind, stating, "I will be leaving my body and going to my star system at the end of September. I stayed to get the most of my journey here but am tired of the upkeep of the vessel." This led the sheriff to state that it seemed the situation might be self-inflicted. The case remains an open investigation, a painful uncertainty for those who know her. Despite extensive searches and follow-up on all available leads, no definitive evidence has ever been found to explain what happened to Jenifer Ann "Mountain Sun" Driver, and her whereabouts remain unknown.Last Seen: Oct 8, 2021
