He has not been seen or heard from since, and his cell phone and bank account have shown no activity since his disappearance. Although he was last seen in Washington D.C., he was a resident of Arlington, Virginia, and the Arlington County Police Department is handling the investigation into his disappearance. Initially, it was believed he was last seen by his roommate at his Arlington home on March 15, 2022, but the investigation later confirmed the last known sighting was two days later at the hotel in D.C.

Spaulding is described as a white male, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He may use the names Conrad or Michael. When he was last seen, he was possibly wearing blue jeans, a light-colored shirt, and grey 'Hey Dude' shoes. He also typically wears a Washington Capitals or Nationals hat. Family members have expressed concern that his disappearance could be connected to someone he met through the Grindr app, which they say he used regularly.

The investigation into Spaulding's disappearance is ongoing. He has been classified as an endangered missing person, as he has medical conditions that require daily medication which he left behind. His family is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to his whereabouts. The Arlington County Police are asking anyone with information to contact their tip line. DNA samples from Spaulding's parents were submitted to the Virginia Department of Forensic Sciences in May 2022 and have since been uploaded to the National DNA Index System.
