Bokslag worked as a seasonal ranger for the Salt Lake City Watershed and was supposed to attend a virtual job training session that day but never logged in. His phone was last active that morning, pinging near 2100 South and 300 West, where it was then turned off. A small transaction of $100 was withdrawn from his bank account that same day, with no further activity on his accounts or phone since.

On June 8, his parents reported him missing after being unable to contact him. That same day, his 2012 Suzuki SX4 was found abandoned in a remote area near the Castle Rock exit of Interstate 80 in Summit County, Utah, with its license plates removed. No evidence of foul play was found, but Bokslag has not been seen since, and his disappearance remains unsolved.

His family and authorities have raised a $50,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts. Investigators are still determining whether foul play was involved in his case.
