Jimmie "Jay" Lee, a 20-year-old University of Mississippi student, went missing on July 8, 2022. He was last seen leaving his Campus Walk apartment in Oxford early that morning, wearing a silver robe, gray slippers, and a gold bonnet. Jay, a prominent figure in Oxford's LGBTQ+ community, was known for his involvement in social work and drag performances. On the day of his disappearance, he was expected to attend a baby formula donation drive he had organized but never arrived.
