Summary based on 1 source
In the spring of 1998, a 29-year-old man named Joshua Paul Lacerte, who was also known as Joshua Paul Buck, was last seen by his loved ones in the small community of Cache Creek, British Columbia. The exact date of this final sighting was May 1, 1998, a day that marked the beginning of a long and painful period of uncertainty for his family. Joshua, a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, stood at approximately 165 cm and weighed around 63 kg. His life leading up to his disappearance was not without its struggles, as he was known to have battled with drug addiction. Despite this, he remained in contact with his family, making his eventual silence all the more alarming.

Joshua was a person who often relied on hitchhiking to get from place to place, a detail that paints a picture of a life lived with a certain level of freedom and perhaps, vulnerability. In the period before he went missing, he was known to be residing on Texada Island, a location from which he would frequently make his way to Powell River. The last confirmed contact anyone had with Joshua is believed to have been in July of 1999, more than a year after his family last saw him. Following this last communication, an unnerving silence descended, leaving his family and friends to wonder and worry about his fate. As time stretched on with no word, the fear that he may have encountered foul play began to take root in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The official report of Joshua's disappearance was not filed until 2003, several years after he was last seen or heard from. The Ashcroft RCMP opened an investigation, but the passage of time presented significant challenges. Despite inquiries and interviews, investigators were unable to uncover any substantial leads that might have shed light on what happened to him. To this day, there has been no evidence to suggest that Joshua has been seen or has made contact with any family, friends, or official agencies across Canada. The case of Joshua Paul Lacerte remains an open and unresolved missing person investigation, a poignant reminder of a young man who seemingly vanished, leaving behind a family searching for answers and a community grappling with the mystery of his disappearance.

Last Seen: May 1, 1998
