On July 4, 2005, a young man named Jeffrey Johnson Turtle, aged 20, vanished from the Pikangikum First Nation Territory in Ontario. He was last observed in the Squirrel Rock area of the community. Reports from that time indicate that Jeffrey had intended to walk to a sand pit situated approximately three kilometers northwest of Pikangikum.
