On a summer day in July of 1970, 46-year-old Arthur Clifford Stephens left his home in Gimli, Manitoba, with plans for a fishing trip in the scenic Whiteshell Provincial Park. He told his wife he would be back on July 21, 1970, and promised to call if his trip were to extend any longer. When July 22nd arrived with no word from Arthur and no sign of his return, his wife reported him missing to the police that day. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a Caucasian male, 5'7" tall and weighing 150lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing grey pants and a green plaid shirt. The search for Arthur began, and on August 1, 1970, a significant clue surfaced when his vehicle was discovered near Falcon Beach. This discovery prompted extensive searches of the surrounding land, lakes, and airspace. Despite these thorough efforts by authorities, no further evidence or leads were uncovered to indicate what might have happened to Arthur. He had several distinguishing features, including missing the tips of his right middle and ring fingers, and multiple tattoos: a star on each thumb, a rope and dagger on his left forearm, a knotted rope on his left forearm, and a circular design on his right upper arm. The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into years, with no resolution in the disappearance of Arthur Clifford Stephens. The official investigation, including comprehensive ground, lake, and air searches, ultimately failed to locate him or provide any answers as to his whereabouts. His case remains an unsolved mystery, a story of a man who went on a fishing trip and seemingly vanished. Although his family has a headstone for him, his remains have never been found, leaving his loved ones without closure. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance on July 19, 1970, continue to be unknown.
