On a summer day in July of 1970, 46-year-old Arthur Clifford Stephens left his home in Gimli, Manitoba, with plans for a fishing trip in the scenic Whiteshell Provincial Park. He told his wife he would be back on July 21, 1970, and promised to call if his trip were to extend any longer. When July 22nd arrived with no word from Arthur and no sign of his return, his wife reported him missing to the police that day.
