On July 19, 1970, Arthur Stephens left his home in Gimli, Manitoba. He had planned to go fishing in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. Arthur told his wife that he would return on July 21, 1970. He further advised her that if he was going to stay any longer, he would call her to let her know. By July 22, 1970, Arthur had not returned home and his wife hadn't received a phone call.
