On a summer evening, July 21, 1995, 24-year-old Erwyn Cecil Lippett and his friend, Simon Kirk Weidemann, set out for a canoe ride on Lake Huron. The two men, who were on a camping trip with their families at the Brucedale Conservation Area near Port Elgin, Ontario, planned to do some fishing.
