On September 19, 1980, Charles Leslie Lewis and a friend were out fishing on Gullrock Lake approximately 10km south of Red Lake in the Kenora District in Ontario. While they were out on the lake the winds picked up and began to create large waves, which caused the boat to capsize. Charles and his friend clung to the bottom of the boat but were pushed off several times by the waves. Charles was washed away from the boat.
