In the winter of 1981, a painful and enduring mystery began for the family of Emery Earl Laboucane. On February 21, 1981, the 30-year-old Indigenous man left his home in Hinton, Alberta, for work. Later in the day, he placed a telephone call to his wife, letting her know that he was on his way home.
