In the winter of 1980, a young woman named Julie Ann Derouin vanished from Lethbridge, Alberta, leaving behind a mystery that has endured for decades. At 23 years old and seven months pregnant, Julie was last seen on January 1, 1980. Originally from the lower mainland of British Columbia, she had moved to Lethbridge in the latter part of 1979. Her life in Alberta was linked to the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club, an organization that was active in British Columbia and Washington. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance are clouded by the passage of time, as she was not officially reported as a missing person until June of 1983, more than three years after she was last seen. The investigation into Julie's disappearance has been a long and complex one, marked by conflicting information and a lack of concrete evidence. Over the years, authorities have explored various leads, including unconfirmed reports that she may have returned to British Columbia or relocated to Ontario. Tragically, there were also reports suggesting she may have been the victim of a homicide. In 1985, the investigation led police to execute a search warrant and excavate a home in south Lethbridge where it was believed she had lived with her common-law husband. Despite this significant effort, the search yielded no signs of Julie, leaving investigators unable to definitively say whether she disappeared of her own accord or as a result of foul play.
