In the spring of 1986, a middle-aged man named Roy Britten vanished from the area of Birch Beach in Shuniah, Ontario. On May 26th of that year, he was seen in a boat, making his way towards the northeast end of Caribou Island. The circumstances of his disappearance suggest a suspected accident, and it is believed that he may have drowned.
