In early March of 2021, a 30-year-old man from Ottawa named Konstantin Boukhanov made a trip to Toronto, Ontario, without informing his family of his plans. His loved ones last had contact with him in Ottawa on March 5, and he was subsequently seen in Kingston on March 6. The last confirmed sighting of Konstantin was on March 7, 2021, captured on video surveillance in the vicinity of Toronto's Union Station, a major transit hub located near Front and Bay streets. Since that day, there has been no further contact, and his sudden departure was described as being entirely out of character. Both the Ottawa and Toronto police services have been involved in the investigation and have sought help from the public in locating him. At the time he went missing, Konstantin was described as a Caucasian male, standing approximately 5'9" to 6'0" tall and weighing between 148 and 170 pounds, with a slim build. He has short brown hair and hazel eyes. Distinctive features include a nose that turns slightly to the left, light-colored birthmarks on his chest and side, and a scar near his armpit. When he was last seen, he was dressed for the winter weather, wearing a grey or black winter jacket, a grey toque, a black and white Roots scarf, blue jeans, and brown boots. He was also carrying a red and black duffel bag and a black backpack. The circumstances surrounding Konstantin's disappearance have left his family and authorities with many unanswered questions. He was fluent in several languages, including English, Russian, French, and Spanish, with some knowledge of Japanese. Friends of Konstantin mentioned that he had previously talked about "doomsday prepping" and the idea of living in the woods. Despite this, his unannounced travel and subsequent silence are a source of deep concern. The investigation has been transferred to the Toronto Police Service since his last known location was within their jurisdiction. The case remains an active missing person investigation, a quiet and unsettling mystery for those who know and care for him, who are still awaiting answers.
