On January 5, 1991 Bruce Blimkie left the Riverview Inn in Norway Bay, Quebec, to travel home by snowmobile, across the Ottawa River, to Arnprior, Ontario. It is believed that Bruce was travelling in an area of the Ottawa River where there was open water, and that his snowmobile went through the ice into the water. He is presumed drowned.
