In the early hours of November 2, 2017, Melissa Blais, a 34-year-old mother of two from Yamachiche, Quebec, vanished without a trace from the nearby town of Louiseville. A real estate agent and part-time bartender, she was a familiar face in her community. On the evening of her disappearance, she had been out with friends, visiting a few local bars. Her last confirmed sighting was at approximately 2:15 a.m. as she left a bar in the center of Louiseville. Following this, Melissa and her black 2011 Toyota Corolla seemingly disappeared, leaving her family and friends in a state of desperate uncertainty. The initial response to Melissa's disappearance was a large-scale search effort by the Sûreté du Québec. For two weeks, ground crews, aircraft, and divers meticulously combed the area, including the Petite Rivière du Loup and parts of the St. Lawrence River. Despite these exhaustive efforts, no sign of Melissa or her vehicle was discovered. Police set up command posts in Louiseville to encourage anyone with information to come forward, and a reward was offered for any leads that could help solve the case. Investigators have considered various possibilities, including an accident, but the complete absence of any evidence has made the case particularly baffling for law enforcement. The fact that her car also vanished has been noted by police as an unusual aspect of the case. In the years that have passed since Melissa Blais was last seen, her family has remained steadfast in their efforts to find answers. They have organized events to keep her memory in the public eye and have expressed their profound grief and confusion over her sudden disappearance. Her sister-in-law has spoken about the immense pain of not having any clues, stating, "It's as if she vanished, and we have been in nothingness for two years." In a unique effort to generate new leads, posters with Melissa's information were placed on transport trucks that travel across North America. The investigation into her disappearance remains open, a painful and unresolved chapter for her loved ones and the community. The case is a haunting mystery, marked by the complete lack of evidence and the unending hope of a family desperate for closure.
